It is very hard to claim that Islam respects basic human rights because it has exhibits inequality of genders, slavery, freedom of thought particularly against religion.

Almost an impossibility. The idea behind basic human rights is that each and every person, regardless of their sex, race, religion etc., has some set of rights that cannot be deprived of any individual. To believe in basic/universal human rights arguably entails believing in a some form of universal equality. However, Islam does not treat people equally. In Islam, men and women have different rights; heterosexual people and people with other sexual preferences have different rights; muslims, christians and jews, atheists, and people with other religious beliefs have different rights, and the list goes on.
