The capital of Germany since the fall of the Berlin Wall, which was previously the city Bonn. The city is home to hundreds of attractions from the monarchical period and from the aftermath of the world wars. Alexanderplatz seems to be the center of the city, with the long Fernsehturm, and the fountain called Neptunbrunnen. The museum island is definitely worth seeing. The famous bon marche street stretching from the Alexanderplatz to Die Brandenburger Tor is called Unter den Linden and is definitely great. At the end of this street, in the eastern corner of Tiergarten, the German parliament which is called Reichstag, is located. Besides the Baroque and Neoclassical architecture, which we are all familiar from other european cities, the socialist architecture is dominant in the city since it was also the capital of Eastern Germany, DDR. The districts of Berlin are also interesting to discover. Mitte, which constitutes the central area, was in the Eastern Germany. Kreuzberg, Wedding, Neukölln, Charlottenburg were all in the West Berlin and are today still home to a significant migrant population, despite the comprehensive gentrification projects. The lines where the Berlin Wall once stood were highlighted to make it visible today. Berlin is surrounded by an efficient metro system (u-bahn) and accompanying regional trains (s-bahn).
